Freestyle Australian home decoration
In Australia’s major cities, oppressive local government by-laws can squash the creativity of those with a proclivity for residential decoration.
Especially at Christmas time, the rules are often overlooked, as people in the festive spirit adorn their homes – inside and outside.
Usually, those adornments last a few weeks leading up to Christmas and beyond, then are taken down.
This photo shows a residential unit in the northern Melbourne suburb of Brunswick.
Certainly, there are signs of Christmas in the decorations, which cover the whole front wall of the unit facing the street.
But there is much that has nothing to do with Christmas – and this photo was taken in September.
Somehow, the resident or residents have overcome any objections from local government by-laws inspectors, and their creativity flourishes all-year round!
That’s kind of awesome, it’s like a collage of everything they love pinned to the front of their house
